Google Knol will Help You Make Money Online

Google officially launched a new web authoring tool called Knol on Jul 23. Google Knol is free and opened to everyone. It is a content sharing network where you can write and publish articles in most of the topics. Each article page or content page you created is called a Knol.

Publishing a Knol is quite similar to publishing a blog post except the tone is more formal. You can insert related picture or image to your Knol and once your Knol created, readers are allowed to comment and rate your article in the Knol.

What Benefits You'll Gain from Publishing Google Knols?

AdSense Ads is Allowed in Knols
Google said that the authors can choose to include AdSense ads in all their Knols. So, each of your Knols that attract traffic may earn you some AdSense ad revenue. But, if you are actively creating Knols that share useful content, it is possible to earn a nice AdSense income every month as you will have more Knols gaining traffic.

Get Free Google Traffic
The Google knol homepage http://knol.google.com gained thousands of quality backlinks in less than a week. It is expected that it will gain decent of backlinks just like the other two content sharing networks, Hubpages and Squidoo. Because of the huge amount of backlinks Hubpages and Squidoo have gained, they are now getting million of visitors from search engines like Google and Yahoo every month (I believe most are from Google).

This will happen to Google Knol as well. Google Knol will soon gain huge amount of backlinks and many of the Knols created by different authors will start ranking high on Google search engine and enjoy free Google traffic. Those who manage to get their knols ranked on a competitive keyword will receive steady traffic. They can include links in their Knols to direct these Google traffic to their website or blog or choose to monetize their Knols with AdSense ads so that these Google traffic can be converted into AdSense revenue.

Google Knol has their own content policy and term of service. You should read and understand them before creating a Knol to publishing your content. Google doesn’t allow spamming, any Knol that against their policy will be deleted.

How to Make Money on the Internet - Blogging

The internet is full of ways to make money and there are a lot of different approaches you can take to make money on the internet. Let me introduce you to blogging - more specifically let me explain to you how people make money on the internet with this fairly new method (think back 5 years, not 5 months).

What Exactly Is Blogging Anyway?

According to Wikipedia:

A blog is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.

In plainer English, a blog is a website that shows the newest entries at the beginning, usually on the homepage. This website is a blog, and for that reason you will always find my newest writing on the homepage, at the top. As you scroll down, you will find the other entries I have written, newest to oldest.

What Are Blogs About?

There are blogs about everything! This blog teaches people how to make money on the internet. There are blogs about sports, news, fitness, cooking, humor, teaching, parenting, celebrities, and everything else you can imagine.

Blogs are a great format for news sites. Since blogs show the newest entries first, readers can easily find the most recent news stories. Bloggers (those who blog) post news about every industry, and provide their own opinions on the subject matter.

When blogs first started, they were created primarily to be online journals, but have now evolved into websites about anything and everything.

How To People Make Money Blogging?

The simple answer to that question is that blogs get traffic and convert it into money. Getting traffic is very possible with a blog, in fact it’s much easier to get traffic to a blog than it is to get traffic on traditional websites. I’ve created an entire series of posts on why blogs are the easiest way to get traffic and covert it into money. The method is called ‘Keyword Sniping’. In a nutshell, Keyword Sniping is the fastest and most direct way for people to pull search engine traffic to their websites and create a steady, low maintenance income.

Because of the immense popularity of the Keyword Sniping posts, I’ve created a free, downloadable report called “Introduction to Keyword Sniping: Your Shortest Path to $1,000 Per Month Online” that breaks down the entire philosophy. You can grab your copy of the book by filling out the easy form below (obviously I’ll never share or sell your information - it’s completely safe with me). The report will take you through all the steps for getting your first Keyword Sniper sites off the ground.

First Name:
Email:

Blogs can develop quite a following by people interested in the blog’s industry. Popular blogs can get thousands of hits per day. Gizmodo, Engadget, and Perez Hilton are three mega popular blogs which all get hundreds of thousands of visitors per day.

The traffic of most blogs is converted to money through advertising. That probably sounds difficult to you if you’re new, but it’s actually really easy. The primary revenue streams of most blogs are:

  • Ad-Boxes
    • Google Adsense - Anyone can sign up for this service and it’s 100% free to use. Google will display ads on your blog and pay you when they get clicked on. This is by far the easiest way to make money with your blog. If you look closely at my pages you will find ad units labeled ‘Ads by Google’.
    • Yahoo! Publishing - Yahoo’s version of Adsense. Yahoo’s version is also free to use.
  • Contextual Ads - These are ads that are displayed throughout the text of your blog. If you look closely through my pages you will see links that are double underlined. These are actually ads and if you hover over them, a little ad-box will pop up. The contextual ad company will pay for clicks on the links or the ad-box.
    • Intelitxt - The first major company to offer this type of advertising. It’s quite difficult to get an account with them unless you have over 500,000 hits per month.
    • Kontera - Another player in the contextual ad game. Kontera is easier to sign up for when you’re still small.
  • Affiliate Programs - Many bloggers sell products and services for other sites and receive appropriate commissions. There are tons of sites out there that offer free, affiliate programs including:
  • Text Links - Bloggers can sell links from there pages to other websites. Most bloggers that use this kind of revenue stream use a company called text-link-ads.com. Their service is free to use and their company will sell the ads for you. The sites that purchase them pay monthly, and you get paid monthly.
  • Direct Sales - Some bloggers sell their own products and services.

How Much Can A Person Make Blogging?

That’s really tough question to answer. Some blogs create $500,000 per year and some make $0. The amount a person can make with a blog depend on a lot of factors including:

  • Blogger’s Knowledge and Experience
  • Quality and Quantity of Blog’s Information
  • Marketing
  • Determination
  • Longevity
  • Luck (This isn’t a joke but it is of course possible to create luck.)

I think that it’s very possible to create an income in the high five and even six figures for individuals that posses the right talent and determination. If you are thinking about becoming a blogger, you should visit this article: Making Money Online - Is This Business For You?

In my opinion, blogging is the easiest of all the methods of making money online, at least for beginners. It is also a stepping stone for those wishing to move onto more difficult online, money-making methods. If you’re interested in starting a blog, you should read this: 5263 Words On Starting A Profitable Blog. It provides the basics of getting a blog set up to make money on the internet.

Making Money On The Internet Rules
Update: It has now been almost four years that I have been making money on the internet and I can tell you that it’s probably the funnest way to make money ever. I have to say that I freaking love it!

Make Money and Advertise at the same site

Here's a new concept I just joined where you can advertise you site and make money online at the same time. It's called You-Cubez and the idea is that that you can buy an advertising cube for a low as £1.00 or about $2.00 america. Then there are many ways you can increase the value of your Cube which moves it up the page and theoretically more clicks. You can also sell your block once it has increased in value Give it a look. It' looks like a fun way to make some extra money online.

Top 3 Ways To Get Free Inbound Links

There are numerous reasons why incoming links weigh a lot from a search engine's point of view. First off, they establish your page rank and search engine rankings. The amount of sites linking to you is proof of your worth to Internet users. If you’re really doing well, you'll be able to land even at the top spot of the natural search results, which means heavy traffic and greater conversion rate for your online business.

So how exaclty do you get free quality inbound links? Here are 3 easy ways to achive just that:

1. Write keyword rich articles and send them to as many article directories as possible. Content is without a doubt the king of the World Wide Web. You should add links in the body of your article, which will bring quality targeted traffic to your site, not just incoming links. Also, remember to write a compelling resource box, one that will make the reader want to find out more of what your site has to offer.

2. Develop your own blog. More and more people discover and enjoy reading blogs. This is because bloggers are very generous with their information. They reveal some personal insights and past experiences that can help you in your business and/or personal affairs. Blogs, from the SEO point of view, provide a major advantage as they get indexed by Google a lot easier than a normal site. That alone provides you with a big advantage. Moreover, if you leave a link to your blog by making comments on other people’s blogs, you’re actually providing yourself an incoming link.

Developing your Blogroll is also very important - this means exchanging links with other bloggers witch will benefit both parties.

3. Take part in forum discussions. You should begin searching for related message boards and chat rooms. After developing a good list, you should start signing up. You will discover that these forums actually let you to build your own profile as well as add your signature, which should contain links to your sites which will of course appear in every single post you make. As long as your chosen discussion boards have a good Google Page Rank, you can look to benefit from their increased page rank. Even more, webmasters could find your site useful to their readers and link back to you from their site thus sending you quality traffic.

It is recommended to use all of these different methods on a regular basis if you really want to grow your site and your business.

A Good Alternative to Adsense

Because of Google Adsense strict guidelines, many people find themselves banned from the program and searching for pay per click alternatives. ETOLOGY is a program that I have been using on a few of my sites after they no longer met Googles guidlines. They don't pay as high as Adsense but who does? They have similar features as Adsense and I have been supplementing my income with them for almost a year. So give them a try. I was weary at first but am satisfied with there program so far.

Adsense Guidelines on Placing Google Ads

You must know and comply with the Adsense Guidelines on placing Google Ads. There are rules on where and how to place your Google Ads or Adsense Codes in your blog. You must comply with the guidelines to avoid being banned from the money making Adsense program.

So, after you have made your own blog and posted your blog articles, you are now going to place your Google Ads. I assume that you have already created your own Google Adsense account when you have read my previous post. If not, then create one now by clicking the Adsense button on this page.

After you’ve created your Adsense account, you must know where and how to place your Google Ads. Google Ads are the Adsense codes in javascripts format required by Google to place on your blog or web site to start making money online. In your Adsense account, if you click Adsense Setup, you will see Adsense for content, Adsense for search and Referrals like this:

Adsense Setup

Those are the categories of your Google Ads to be placed in your web site or blog. Under Adsense for content, you have two adtype choices, the Ad Unit and the Link Unit, as this:

`Adsense for content
You see also this link to updated Google Program Policies, which is also called as Adsense Guidelines.

Where to Place Google Ads

Though you may place your Google Ads anywhere in your page, it is stated in the Adsense Guidelines that you should not place Google Ads on blog or site with prohibited content that promotes or contains illegal activity or infringement on legal rights of others, such as the following:

How to Place Google Ads

Another important policy is the limit of placing Google Ads on each of your page. You are allowed to place a maximum of three (3) Ad units, one (1) Link unit and two (2) Adsense for search on each of your page. If you exceed the limit on your page, excess Google Ads will be displayed as blank or whitespace. That will not be a good view in your blog or web site.
Prohibited Adsense Clicks and Impressions

You must also know that Adsense program prohibits to encourage your visitors to click on Google Ads. Any method that artificially generates clicks or impressions on your Google ads is strictly prohibited. These include but not limited to the following:

* Repeated manual clicks or impressions, using robots, automated click and impression generating tools.

* Third-party services that generate clicks or impressions such as paid-to-click, paid-to-surf, autosurf, and click-exchange programs, or any deceptive software.

Prohibited Site and Google Ad Behavior

* Adsense codes or Google Ads must not be altered that would change its behavior that is not explicitly permitted by Google.

* Sites showing Google Ads must have no excessive popups or popunders that interfere with users navigation and preferences.

* Clicks on Google ads must not be launched in new browser window.

* AdSense codes must not be integrated into any software application like toolbars.

* Adsense referral must be made without any obligation or requirement to end users such as soliciting email addresses.

Prohibited 3rd Party Ad Services

Web pages containing Google Ads must not contain third party ads that have the same looks or appearance with that of Google such as boxes, colors and layout.

Warning: Your account will be immediately disabled, if you failed to comply with Adsense guidelines. That will be regretful.

I hope this post helps you understand where and how to place your Google Ads or Adsense Codes. In my next post, I will discuss the most profitable placement of Google Ads or codes. So, please drop by and have a nice day.

Google Adsense Optimization Tips

Here are the Google Adsense optimization tips for bloggers and webmasters. To make more money from Adsense, you have to learn Adsense optimization and implement it in your blogs or web sites. I summarized here the Adsense optimization tips from Google and from Adsense experts.
Adsense Optimization for Ad Types

Adsense Text ad is the best among Adsense ad types available that include text, image, and link unit. Readers easily captured the information displayed in text ads compared to others. Though there are texts in image, the readers will process first the visualization of the image and the text. While link unit captures also the readers attention, it takes 2 clicks to make money from it and the readers are normally lazy to do the 2nd click. But, this is the best ad type for maximizing space in the web page. This adds more resources to the readers.
Adsense Optimization for Ad Formats

Wide Adsense Ad format works better than vertical Adsense ads. The wider ad format lets the readers easily captures one-liner texts of information at convenient width of around up to 500 pixels. Readers can conveniently capture the information at a glance. Narrow ad formats inconveniently force the readers’ eyes move down to the next line.

Here are the Adsense ad format suggested by Google from the most effective to the least and how to implement it in your blog or web site:

1. 336×280 large rectangle: Embed or blend this ad format with content or make it stands out from others within your blog or web pages.

2. 300×250 inline rectangle: Place this ad format at the top, on the right and at the bottom of your blog or web site pages.

3. 160×600 wide skyscraper: Place this ad format on the left, on the right or embed it with content in your blog or web pages.
Adsense Optimization for Ad Colors

Optimizing Adsense Ad colors has a great impact to your Adsense income. Ad colors can make relevant Adsense links as additional useful resources to readers who are looking for more information or solutions to their problems. Google suggested to blend, complement or contrast Adsense colors with the colors of your blog or web pages. For best results, use colors of the links that are existing and prominent in your pages. See more Adsense tips on colors that make cents and dollars, here.

Adsense Optimization for Ad Placement

Optimizing ad placement of you Google ads is another key to optimize your Adsense income. Normally, the best ad placement is on the left side next to your post or article. Next best placement is immediately before the page article/post or between the post title and post body. Then, another best placement is after your post body. Please note, however, that the best placement still depends on the content of every page.
Adsense Optimization for Content Targeting

You have to optimize the content targeting of your Adsense to emphasize and de-emphasize the page content which the Adsense based its Google ads to be displayed.

To emphasize the content or section of the page, enclose it with Google ad section HTML tags within the body tags (<body> and </body>), like this:

<!– google_ad_section_start –>

Emphasized content or section here

<!– google_ad_section_end –>

To de-emphasize the content or section, add weight=ignore to the Google ad section starting HTML tags, like this:

<!– google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) –>

De-emphasized content or section here

<!– google_ad_section_end –>

See more Adsense content or section targeting tips here.
Track Adsense Monetization with Adsense Channel

Use Adsense channel to track the monetization of your optimized Google ads. Adsense channel lets you track the performance of each your Adsense ad type, format and placement. Use this to experiment Adsense optimization in your blog or site. In your Adsense account under Adsense Setup, you have to create and assign Adsense channel to each of your Adsense JavaScript. How To Improve Your Affiliate Earnings

Affiliate programs are done on a Cost Per Action (CPA) basis, meaning they require some action inorder to get you money like signing up for the program or buying a product. Many people don’t realize that if they use affiliate programs properly, it can turn out to be one of their biggest money makers.

A common mistake made by some people are placing banners of various affiliate programs on their site thinking that it will earn just like that. I would recommend you to choose the affiliate programs that matches your blog content so that they perform well for you.

Once you find the affiliate programs matching your site content, don’t just place it’s affiliate banners on your blog. While the banners may get you some clickthroughs, the chance of conversion will be low.

Use a Pre-Sell page

The best way is to make a pre-sell page or post on your blog explaining all about the product and how they will benefit your readers and be sure to include your affiliate links on the page. This can increase your chances of conversion as you are letting your visitors know how the product can benefit them and therefore you can make more money with Affiliate programs this way.

The pre-sell posts that I have created on this blog are Text Link Ads Review and AGLOCO - Get Paid To Surf The Web.

Just placing affiliate banners can waste space which can otherwise be used for CPC or CPM advertising. To increase the chance of your visitors finding these pre-sell pages, link them on other posts and on sidebar or below post.
Give out something free

Another thing you can do to increase the chance of conversion is to give something free in exchange to people who do the action required for you to earn from the affiliate program. Regular readers may remember that I offer a free sitewide link on this blog for a month to anyone who signs up for Text Link Ads using my referral link.

You could also sign up under other peoples affiliate links for other programs and in return ask them to sign up under your affiliate link.

Increase Adsense Revenue with Rich Content

Want to increase adsense revenue? Then, create site or make blog with rich content. Rich content means that site has many web pages that focuses on a particular niche topic like baby names, dog care, birthday party, online business, home business, work at home moms and many more.
Benefits of Having Rich Content

* Readers stay in your web site or blog for a longer time, reading and navigating through your web pages.

* More Google ads will be shown to them that will attract them to click.

* Search engines love your site to be indexed and offered to its users.

* Since most of the readers cannot read or check out all of your site contents or articles, they will likely come back.

* Your visitors will likely subscribe to your feed or newsletter to check any updates on your site. They will even love to share your site to other people.

* Other sites or blog will love to link to your site as a great resource for their visitors.

* Your site will most likely rank prominently in search engine listing for the relevant keywords.

How to Create Site With Rich Content

* Write short articles so that someone can read them in about 5 minutes but with minimum of 300 words.
* Write a minimum of 30 informative articles centered around a particular theme.
* Categorize your articles or content. Break up your articles into 5 sub-topics and write or post at least 5 articles into each sub-topic. With this strategy, your site will have a total of 31 articles or posts. One article for your main page or homepage, 5 articles as main sub-topics and another 25 articles under the sub-topics, i.e. 5 articles for each sub-topic. This will also help you develop articles or contents for your site or blog.

What is Google Adsense?

Google Adsense is a program that allows web publishers to partner with Google and earn additional income. When someone joins the program, they allow Google to place ads on their website or blog, and based upon the ad that is shown, they will either get paid for a certain number of ad impressions or when one of their visitors clicks on these ads.

Google uses their technology to “read” the content on the pages the web publisher is allowing them to place ads on. This increases the chances of the ad being relevant to the topic of that particular web page or blog entry, which also increases the chance of a reader clicking on that ad.

While Google does have the final say in which ads appear on which pages, the web publisher is the one that decides how they will look and where they will go. Adsense users can choose from several styles of ads, including links only as well as full ads with text and even ads with pictures.

In addition to choosing which type of ad, a user can choose from many sizes and shapes of ad boxes, also known as ad units. In the final step, the user gets to fully customize the color of the ad units, including the borders, links and text.

In recent months, Adsense users have been allowed to publish ads on their site in a whole new way with Adsense embedded YouTube players. Many web publishers are actively placing videos on their sites and blogs to help grab their visitors’ attention and add interest to their site. Now these web publishers can earn additional income for it, too.

The actual amount of income a person earns through Adsense has many variables. Since a person generates income through the amount of clicks they are receiving or the amount of people who are viewing the ad, a website owner with a large amount of traffic has the potential to earn a considerably greater amount of money.

There are, in fact, a number of people who are earning large sums of money with the Adsense program, but they are few and far between. To many website owners, Adsense is only an additional stream of income. Simply joining the Adsense program is not a guarantee of future income, it is only a possibility of future income.

Adsense does provide tools for their users to help them maximize their earning potential. One of these is called a channel. This allows the user to create different styles of ad units and place them on different pages of their site in order to track the results. This can tell the user which shapes and sizes of ads, as well as what type of content, induces the highest amount of earnings.

For web publishers looking to earn an additional stream of income, Adsense can be a great way to accomplish that.
